Our Approach

We approach behavioral health and development as a puzzle. For a puzzle to produce a conclusive picture, all the pieces must be identified and placed appropriately. In a puzzle, no one piece outweighs the importance of another; allowing each piece its own unique contribution to the whole. In addition, each interconnecting piece supports the overall puzzle by anchoring to and interacting with its neighboring pieces. No single piece of a puzzle can stand alone; that is why our puzzle has four identified pieces: family, community, provider and child. This holistic approach is distinct in that it provides equal focus to the interdependent pieces. When the pieces of the puzzle are placed together, their picture creates a compassionate network of assistance for the social and emotional development of each individual child.

We root our approach within evidence-based frameworks and practices that support the healthy social and emotional development of children through positive and nurturing interactions in a learning environment. Providers in our Early Learning, Family Childcare, and School age programs utilize these frameworks in their daily routines as they teach and care for children. The consultants in the ROD Center utilize these same frameworks for shared understanding when providing consultation services to providers in our programs.
